The Caley Art Gallery has built up a strong international reputation based on the museum quality and sought after original art of Peter Jean Caley. Its high quality New Zealand made products range from quality fine art prints on canvas and art board to green stone pendants, carvings, hand blown glass and much more. Caley Art Ltd was formed in 2000 and is a registered company. With the growing reputation of Peter Jean Caley the company was formed to help organise his exhibits and promote print media of his work. His works depicting Maori culture, New Zealand native birds, landscapes, wildlife and also including his Americas Cup Yachts and the Volvo International yachts have certainly made Peter Jean Caley an internationally recognised artist.

In 2002 the Gallery was moved to Otira,  a very small rail-road community based in a beautiful mountain valley between Christchurch on the South Island east coast and Hokitika / Greymouth in the west, near the famous Arthur's Pass. This move was made on Peter and his business partner Tony Caley decision to help develop Peter's art and cultural links as his Maori ancestors came from the region. The gallery, in a renovated town hall, grew very fast and became a favoured destination of both international and local visitors who came to view the magnificent private collection of Maori portraits and cultural paintings and the remarkably painted restored building.

After 2½ years it was decided to move the gallery to Geraldine in South Canterbury, closer to Peter's marae and tribal base and also because of the increasing demand for Peters international appearances. The new look Gallery in Geraldine opened in October 2004 with a large 300 head dinner beautifully put together in a marquee in the park, all provided by Continental Catering. This function was attended by government and local body dignitaries from all over New Zealand and helped with sponsorship from David Fox -Ngai Tahu Corporation (Peters Tribe), Montana , Fonterra, Downies Wholesale Flowers along with the local Timaru District Council and many people from our community. The Gallery has continued its success no doubt helped by being on the main highway to Queenstown, Tekapo and Mt Aoraki (Mt Cook). This mountain is Peter's tribal sacred Mountain.

On the 2nd of June 2007 the gallery moved to new and expanded premises next door to the original Geraldine gallery. The opening was performed by Sir Howard Morrison and Her Worship Janie Annear, Mayor of Timaru. Click to see pictures from the opening

The Caley Art Gallery has expanded into reproductions of Peter's work and hosted international exhibits in Florence, Dubai, America and has sold paintings and prints to over 20 countries. Peter has received enormous publicity throughout the world. The company will continue to grow with Peter's work now featuring in many international exhibitions, collections and museums all around the world and through the increasing demand for both his original art work and printed media.
